Nurturing Growth and Resilience

Welcome to our Youth Mentorship Program at The Pillar! We understand the importance of providing support and guidance to youth as they navigate their healing journeys. Our mentorship program offers personalized one-on-one sessions over the course of 8 weeks, with each session focusing on specific topics aimed at fostering growth, resilience, and well-being. Youth Mentorship is designed for ages 12 and above.

Week 1: Understanding Emotions

 

  • Explore the range of emotions and learn healthy ways to identify, express, and regulate them.
  • Understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
  • Introduce mindfulness techniques for emotional awareness and self-regulation.

Week 2: Self-Compassion & Self-Acceptance

  • Cultivate a sense of self-compassion and learn to practice kindness and understanding towards oneself.
  • Challenge negative self-talk and embrace self-acceptance and self-love.
  • Explore strategies for building a positive self-image and nurturing inner strength.

Week 3: Coping Skills & Stress Management 

  • Identify common stressors and triggers and learn effective coping mechanisms to manage stress.
  • Practice relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation.
  • Explore healthy lifestyle habits that promote physical and emotional well-being.

Week 4: Healing from Trauma & Adversity

  • Understand the impact of trauma and adversity on mental health and well-being.
  • Explore coping strategies and resilience-building techniques for overcoming trauma.
  • Learn about resources and support networks available for individuals healing from trauma.

Week 5: Building Healthy Relationships

  • Explore the dynamics of healthy relationships, including communication, boundaries, and trust.
  • Identify red flags and warning signs of unhealthy relationships.
  • Practice effective communication skills and conflict resolution strategies.

Week 6: Gratitude and Mindfulness

  • Explore the concept of gratitude and its impact on overall well-being.
  • Practice gratitude exercises and mindfulness techniques to cultivate present-moment awareness.
  • Discover the benefits of living mindfully and fostering a sense of appreciation for life’s blessings.

Week 7: Finding Meaning & Purpose

  • Reflect on personal values, passions, and aspirations to discover a sense of purpose.
  • Explore ways to align daily actions with core values and goals.
  • Discuss the importance of contributing to something greater than oneself and making a positive impact in the world.

Week 8: Creating a Wellness Plan 

  • Develop a personalized wellness plan that incorporates strategies learned throughout the mentorship program.
  • Set achievable goals for continued growth and self-care.
  • Identify ongoing sources of support and resources for maintaining emotional well-being beyond the program.
